Oprah Winfrey was born poor and was black in Mississippi in 1954, when poor and black meant no flush toilets, no shoes, and no real chance to get ahead in the world. At 17 firstly, she was working as a reporter for a local radio station. She was a bright kid at that time.

And beautiful at 18, Winfrey won the Miss Black Tennessee beauty pageant. At 19, she was anchoring a newscast on Nashville’s WTVF-TV. She later co-anchored the nightly newscast at WJZ-TV in Baltimore, and co-hosted a local talk show called “People Are Talking”, before jumping to Chicago’s WLS-TV.

Oprah Winfrey Queen when came to visit City Palace in Pink City was given a warm welcome in a Royal way. Writer Deepak Chopra and his wife also accompanied Oprah while she was visiting City Palace. On main gate of the City Palace, she was received by a possession comprising of elephants, camels and horses. Firstly, she was taken to the Chandra Mahal which includes the major Royal gates of the City Palace. There they were welcomed on the red carpet and traditional aarti was also done there for welcoming them. In the Chandra Mahal they were escorted by Chaddi Chobdars who are the traditional attendees there and later they were greeted by the Diya Kumari and her husband Mr. Narendra Singh who are the members of the Royal family.

While Oprah came to visit the palace the whole palace was decorated in a beautiful way and lit up with lightening.

Then they met Padmini Devi who is also the member of the Royal family in Sukh Niwas. Sukh Nivas’ or “Hall of Rest” is the drawing and dining room of the Maharaja, where Raja used to rest. It contains furnished with Mughal miniatures, European silver, glass dining tables and peep holes decorated with gold leafs, for ventilation. They were also given the silver Ganga urns. She came to Jaipur just to participate in ongoing Literature Festival at that time. She was wearing a green Sari at that time which was designed by Sabyasachi Mukherjee.

Royals from Jaipur hosted a grand dinner for Oprah Winfrey at the City Palace on Friday evening.

A green saree designed by Sabyasachi Mukherjee was worn by Oprah and she said that she enjoyed and loved to be at that place. As stated by Princess Diya Oprah was more inclined towards the topic of women and children’s issues and how the schools are being run by the princess in Jaipur. Palace School was founded in the year 2001 by Princess Diya Kumari.

The family gifted Oprah a silver Gangajali (urn) with a royal insignia on it, after a royal dinner.
