The Sanctum Place of Jainese

Chulgiri is a scrumptious place which is surrounded by Aravali ranges. It is located in Jaipur – Agra national highway (NH-11). The trait of chulgiri is its Jain temple which is situated in the Aravali hills and this temple is not only famous in India but also famous in all over the world. The Chulgiri Jain temple is a Digambara shrine and it is a popular sanctum place in Jainism.

In the year 1953 the Jain Hierophant Shri Desh Bhushan marriage had come to this place and he found it very scrumptious and peaceful as mortification point of view, so he choose this place for his mortification and later on he decided to build a Jain shrine over here and the Chulgiri name was given by Shri Desh Bhushan Maharaj to this place.

Initially there were three splendid sculptures was propounded in 1966, which is made of white stone. These three statutes are of three most popular Tirthankars (Shree Parshavnath, Mahaveer Swami and Neminath). The Parshavnath statue is 7 feet high and the Mahaveer Swami sculpture is approx 3.5 feet. Later on the 24 Thirthankar’s statues were also installed and a small water tank was also made to collect rain water for worship and consecration of god.

Every year in the month of May a major event (festival) is organized over here in the same way a big festival named was Panch Kalyanak was organized in May 1982 at that time a beautiful 21 foot tall statue of Mahaveer Swami was founded which is made of white stone and a 60 foot big dome was also made to cover this scrumptious sculpture. When you are standing in front of that spectacular sculpture you actually feel that you are standing in front an almighty it’s that much beautiful and real. Another beauty of this temple is Jain Yantra which embossed on a copper plate and its having a weight around 40 kg and it was placed on roof top of this temple. In the recent year a reservoir was made for storage of rainwater and its having a capacity of 1.8 million liters.

I would like to tell you some important and useful things which really help you when you will go to the Chulgiri Jain temple. This temple is on the outskirts of Jaipur city, it’s almost 20 km from Jaipur city. If you are coming from Jaipur Airport than its approx 16 km and from Bus Stand its 20 km but best the part is that you will easily get road transportation for The Chulgiri from anywhere in the Jaipur city. It’s open early in the morning and closed at 8:30 at night. If you are planning to visit during night time than motorbike is not advisable because wildlife also exists in Aravli ranges and sometime you find Panthers and other wild animal on the road, so our wheeler is advisable. There is meal facility available at economical price inside the Jain temple and you are not supposed to take any non-veg product inside the temple premises or nearby it and mineral water facility is also available.

Chulgiri is also known as adventurous place. The scouts and guide camps is also held over there. People come here for climbing and tracking because it’s a totally different experience when you are doing climbing on Aravli ranges and mostly people come from out of Jaipur. Another tourist attraction point is Ghat ki ghuni tunnel which comes on the way to chulgiri. This tunnel is approx 885 m long and it was inaugurated by Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on 20th January 2013. Now a days many people come to national highway-11 just to see this beautiful tunnel.

The Chulgiri has various scenic views that are more than enough to beguile you completely. That’s why many people come here for picnic mostly on weekends. To see the beauty of any place you have to come yourself don’t just only look at the photos.
