Sightseeing Attractions of Jaipur from Nahargarh Fort

The Skyline of the Pink city towards the northern is marked by a beautiful fort “Nahargarh”. Nahargarh Fort is situated on a steep rocky hillside. It was built by Jai Singh in the year 1734 and later it was developed in the year 1868. There are two ways to reach the top of the Fort, one is by the hilly road of 8kms and second is by a 2 kilometer winding and steep metal road which is on the North West side of the old city.

It is known that, the Fort is named after the dead Rathore prince whose spirit haunts the site at the time of construction. The spirit agreed to leave the fort if it was named after his name when asked by a Tantrik. To pacify his spirit the fort is named as Nahar garh after his name Nahar Singh and a temple was also built in his name known as Nahar temple.

The major attraction of the fort includes the Mansagar lake and its vicinity. It reminds us about the glory of the royal past of Rajas and Maharajas. Other major attraction of this fort is the Nahargarh Palace or the Madhvendra Bhawan. This palace was built by Maharaja Ram Singh who has nine wives. This was built in the year 1866. It consists of nine apartments in it which were given to various queens along with their name and the name of the queens are also mentioned at the top of each apartment. All apartments are decorated in floral motifs. There are some beautiful murals which are gathered in a spacious courtyard. Palace has the best views in the city even though it is not the most beautiful in the Jaipur area, nor it is well maintained. It was constructed during the reign of Maha Raja Sawai Jai Singh II. There are some amazing wall paintings which attract every visitor and these are from the period of Mughals. Being situated at the height on the hill side it is one of the best places in the world as a tourist destination. It is lovely and breathe taking where the enjoyment of simple ambience of being a beautiful location of Nahargarh fort gives pleasure to the visitors.

Like any other forts, Nahargarh fort also shows the traditions of royal past. Besides this, the view of the city from the fort is just beautiful. The whole city looks amazing from the fort.
